Prayer - By the Venerable, Master Chung Hwa Keun-Seunim
Oh Buddha! Existing everywhere in the universe, living eternally, always guiding all
beings with great compassion and great love ! Now with utmost respect and sincerity, we
pray to Buddha, the basis of all existence and of life itself.
Our true nature, originally clear and bright, has become veiled by ignorance and delusion.
We have turned away from the light of the great compassionate Buddha and we have wandered
in a sea of suffering, our lives contaminated with greed and anger.
Tremendously fortunate, we now receive the Buddha뭩 teaching and make our vow with
heartfelt joy. May this vow be received by the Buddha뭩 all-perceiving mind and great
compassion.
Following the Buddha뭩 teaching, we sincerely vow to live with a clear mind, with right
action and right speech. With utmost sincerity and determination, we vow to attain
supreme enlightenment for the liberation of all our neighbors and fellow beings.
Oh Buddha! The true nature of all existence, releasing all beings from suffering!
With the help of Buddha뭩 incomprehensible wondrous power, may our minds and bodies be
strong and our six senses be pure, may our families and societies live in harmony and our
country and the whole world in peace. Lastly, through Buddha뭩 great compassion and
great love, may we together all be liberated from the sea of suffering, from the cycles
of birth and death.
Moreover, with your wondrous protecting power, please guide the spirits of our deceased
parents and ancestors, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and all
our relatives, and other spirits near to us as well as far away, on to all spirits
throughout the entire dharma realm, toward the world of the utmost happiness so that they
may cease to wander the dark roads of the other worlds.
Finally, may all the countless beings of the entire dharma realm realize their own pure
inherent nature, attain the Buddha뭩 enlightenment, live in joy in the majestic and
brilliant Lotus Flower Treasury World, and have eternal happiness in the world of the
utmost bliss.
Namu Amita Buddha! Namu Sakyamuni Buddha!
Namu Avalokitesvara! Namu Maha Prajnaparamita!
